Short Biography

Ms. Unmilita Das Moon, joined as a Lecturer to the Applied Health and Nutrition Department at RTM Al Kabir Technical University on October 1st, 2023. Ms. Moon holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Microbiology and a Master of Science degree in Biotechnology, both with distinction, from BRAC University.

Ms. Moon has demonstrated her expertise as a Research Assistant at BRAC University, where she led several research projects. Her responsibilities also included mentoring thesis students at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. She received scholarships from the Sylhet Education Board for her outstanding performance in the Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) Examination, Junior School Certificate (JSC) Examination and the Primary Scholarship Examination, awarded by the Government of Bangladesh. During her academic journey, Ms. Moon gained practical experience through internships at Red & White Innovations and Parkview Medical College & Hospital. Beyond academia, she possesses strong leadership and organizational abilities and demonstrated her skills in a practical setting, serving as the Director of Finance at the BRAC University Natural Sciences Club. Her commitment to personal and professional development is evident through her participation in various competitions and training programs. Additionally, she served as the Communication and Knowledge Management Secretary at Peace Cafe BRAC University, supported by UN Women, where she worked towards promoting social peace, justice, cohesion, and women empowerment.

  • Phenotyping and genotyping of pathogenic Escherichia coli isolated from different fresh produces of Dhaka city.
  • Characterization of pathogenic Escherichia coli isolated from the water used for washing vegetables and vendors hand swab.
  • Identification of Klebsiella pneumoniae and Salmonella typhi isolated from different vegetables.
  • Characterization of Listeria monocytogenes from fresh vegetables.
  • Isolation and detection of Toxoplasma gondii from symptomatic and asymptomatic individuals in Dhaka.
  • Isolation and detection of Escherichia coli and Salmonella species from different types of fish of Dhaka city.
  • A review on association between respiratory infections and diabetes.
